리드 랩

It refers to being on the same lap count as the leading driver in the current race. A driver on the lead lap is not obligated to yield to trailing cars (blue flag) and can legitimately defend their position.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean to be on the lead lap?
It generally means that a driver has completed the same number of laps as the race leader. A car that has been lapped by the leader is no longer on the lead lap.
Is every car on the lead lap fighting for the win?
Not necessarily. Cars can remain on the same lap as the leader while being separated by a large time gap, so lead-lap status alone does not indicate a genuine fight for victory.
