Do F1 teams deliberately give a team-mate a tow in qualifying?
Yes. At circuits with long straights, teams may arrange the running order so one driver provides a tow to the other. However, the gap is difficult to judge and the wake of the car ahead can hurt cornering performance, so it is not useful in every situation.
