Brake-by-wire

브레이크-바이-와이어

This system transmits the pressure applied by the driver on the brake pedal via electronic signals (wires) instead of physical hydraulic lines. It is particularly applied to the rear brakes, electronically compensating for the irregular braking feel when the Energy Recovery System (ERS) is in operation.

Frequently asked questions

How is brake-by-wire different from a conventional braking system?
It uses electronic control of the braking input, particularly at the rear axle, to coordinate friction braking with regenerative braking.
Why does an F1 car need brake-by-wire?
It helps the driver maintain consistent braking feel and vehicle balance even as the amount of energy recovered by the MGU-K changes.
